First Aid and Trauma Training have gone global, with our team heading out to St Maarten in the Caribbean. The course lasting 3 days introduced the crew to the basic principles of first aid, which then progressed onto trauma and prolonged care whilst at sea. The course then culminated in the principles of confined spaces and the way of recovering a casualty from a confined space should they be injured or unconscious. The course was very well received and many of the crew were exposed to fresh ideas and new ways to deal with incidents that could occur away from the shore. The exercise at the end of the course was designed to help the crew to understand and experience incidents such as catastrophic bleeding, rescue of a badly injured and unconscious casualty and a casualty with multiple injuries in cardiac arrest. A great 4 days was had by all including the trainer from First Aid and Trauma Training Ltd.
