Level 3 (QCF) First Aid at Work (FAW) (3 Day)
This course is HSE approved and provides the learner with all of the information they need to deal with a First Aid incident whether in their workplace, home or just out and about.
The course will give learners the confidence to approach a first aid situation and think clearly and concisely about the steps they need to take in order to encourage a positive outcome for the injured party.
The course is a varied mix of theoretical and practical skills with ongoing assessment and testing throughout by the instructor. The duration of the course is a minimum of 18 hours over 3 days, however, in pre-arranged circumstances it can be delivered over a longer period than 3 days.

- Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- Bandaging
- Chest injuries
- Assessment of the situation
- Heart attacks
- Sprains
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Choking
- Strains
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Head injuries
- Burns
- Anaphylaxis
- Shock
- Asthma
- Control of bleeding
- Eye injuries
- Diabetes
- Resuscitation
- Poisoning
- Epilepsy

Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate approved by the Health and Safety Executive.
This qualification is valid for three years and can be renewed by attending a suitable Two-Day re-qualification course. The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher programme of a minimum of three hours duration.
